10 Best Vegan Restaurants In Berlin, Germany
Are you a vegan? If yes, you know all the benefits of this amazing lifestyle. And, if you are not a vegan yet, you might be wondering what the fuzz is all about. For those of you who don’t know the definition of veganism, I need to say that veganism is not just a specific food regimen. It is a new lifestyle that saves our planet from the entire annihilation.
Do you know what veganism means? What do vegans should or shouldn’t do? In this article, we first give a simple definition of veganism and then discuss all its advantages. Then, for those of you who want to visit Berlin and experience vegan food in this cosmopolitan city, I will introduce the most famous vegan restaurants in Berlin Germany.
What Is Veganism?
A few decades ago, a movement called vegetarianism started to dominate many countries. Vegetarians were people who avoided eating meat and were against killing animals for producing human food. Vegetarianism considers it very unethical and cruel to kill cows, pigs, chickens, etc. for feeding humans. However, they were still eating animal-related products such as eggs, milk, etc. in fact, vegetarianism was a great movement but it was not enough!
That's why a new campaign started to get popular. This new lifestyle was called veganism. What was the difference? Well, veganism was a huge improvement because vegans declared that they avoid not only eating meat, but also other animal-related products. They started eating plant-based food which becomes known as a cruelty-free lifestyle.
What Are The Benefits Of Veganism?
Well, you might not be convinced yet. Why should we stop eating meat and animal-related products? Should we do this just because we feel sorry for animals? No! There are many more into veganism lifestyle. There are health, environmental, and ethical-related reasons why we should stop our common lifestyle. First of all, discoveries have shown that animals can feel pain and misery very similar to humans. Or, they understand when you separate them from their offspring.
Vegans believe that animals have the right to have a prosperous life and shouldn’t get killed to become food for humans. Every day, billions of animals are being tortured and killed which shouldn’t be the case at all! What about environmental reasons? Well, isn't it obvious? When the food industry is hugely dependent on animals.
It means that the food industry must destroy forests and jungles to clear up lands. Why? To provide food for animals. Also, millions of tons of water need to be used to keep the animals alive. Obviously, we cannot continue like this! This madness has to stop somewhere.

Ataya Caffe Menu
Unfortunately, there was no information on the internet about their menu. So, you have to go there and check the food out. However, according to the reviews, foods are all vegan and very diverse too.
Positive Reviews For Ataya Caffe
- MinervaG believes the food is amazing and the restaurant also accepts visa payments. Another customer named FeniLu says the atmosphere is lovely and the staff is nice and friendly. However, she doesn’t like the fact that it opens during the week just for lunch.
- The interior design was again liked by another customer named StrictlyAlive. She thinks that the decoration and setup are amazing.

- If you review the rest of the followers, you will get the same theme. The variety of foods, friendly staff, delicious and fresh meals, and professional interior design are among the most common positive features mentioned by real customers.
Negative Reviews For Ataya Caffe
Interestingly, I found three or four negative reviews which are worth being mentioned here as well. Most of these negative reviews were submitted to Yelp.com.
- One customer named Tania A. is pretty upset with ATAYA because it seems that she has one of her worst experiences there. She said that the food has been awful and dry. Worse, when she has asked for water, they didn’t bring it and forced her to buy a drink instead of that. Also, when she had to pay, they didn't accept coins from her.
- Another negative review was from Bill K. He said the food has been OK but he is a bit frustrated because the restaurant had so many rules.
- Oh, and listen to this! Do you remember that I said you can read books in the restaurant? Well, it turns out that you can but you have to pay first. A customer named Yaprak A. from Turkey said she has been reading a magazine but one of the staff has said to her that you have to buy otherwise you can read it. She also said that on Sunday, you have to get the whole vegan brunch. You cannot buy anything else. She couldn’t buy the coffee because they said if you want coffee, first order a brunch and then order coffee with it.
In general, ATAYA is popular and professional. Most reviews were great with a few negative ones. So, I suggest that you definitely try this place. It is worth trying their food.
2. Brammibal's Donuts – Potsdamer Platz
This restaurant is located in Alte Potsdamer Str. 7, 10785 Berlin, Germany. They serve food in dine-in, takeaway, and delivery formats. The main product that they sell is the donut which is, according to their website, completely vegan. This place was established in 2015 in Berlin. However, thanks to their popularity, they decided to expand their market to Europe. They declare that they are selling Europe's first entirely vegan donut!
Their Donuts Are Amazing
The most important thing is that the donuts are all vegan and cooked every day before the store opens. They have many different types of donuts with beautiful dressings on the menu. They are also supporting the charity by gathering customers together.
Their Menu Is Available Online
You can order online and that's why they have published their menu online too. They have mostly donuts such as Berry Chocolate, Cinnamon sugar, White Choc & Strawberries, pink sprinkles, etc. The texture, shape, color, and softness of each donut are different from the other! The prices are also reasonable.
Their classic donuts and specials cost 2.90 and 3.5 euros, respectively. Their online ordering system is also very simple and fast. What do people think of this place? Let's check it out. Oh, and I forgot to mention their working hours. They open from 10 am to 8 pm from Mondays to Saturdays. Only on Sunday, they are open from 11 am to 7 pm.

Also, if you don’t want to stay inside, you can sit under outdoor seating. You can also take your dog with you. For those who drive to the place, garage and street parking are available.
Negative Reviews Of Brammibal's Donuts – Potsdamer Platz
To find some negative reviews, I checked Yelp.com and found some.
- The first critic is from Moneesh S. who lives in Huston, TX. He admires many features of this place. He thinks it is a successful model. He also likes the fact that they are following veganism. Their logo, according to him, is appealing and professional too. However, he just doesn’t like donuts because he thinks they are too sweet.
- Another not very positive review is from Paul B. who lives in Manchester, United Kingdom. First, he says that the size of donuts and the place for sitting inside and outside were OK. He is not vegan but amazingly didn’t realize that the donuts are vegan. To him, they taste exactly the same as non-vegan donuts. So far, so good. But he gave only three out of five stars. Why? Because when they arrive there, the restaurant was out of a few flavors.
3. Plant Base Café
It is located in Prenzlauer Allee 208, Berlin, Germany. The category of food and drinks that they offer include vegan, organic, juice bars, beer, and take-out. In fact, Plant base is not just a simple café. While you are enjoying vegan food and drinks, you can benefit from the book store, book club, screenings and meetups, and theory workshops to become a more knowledgeable person in an amazing environment. Similar to the two other restaurants and cafes we talked about, pets are allowed to come inside. Their drinks include juices, hot chocolate, and lattes.
Positive Reviews Of Plant Base Café
- The first reaction is from Nieve who likes the ambiance and service and has enjoyed the coffee there. However, she has ordered the omelet bagel sandwich which has been her favourite. Also, she thinks their menu for breakfast is a bit limited.
- Another customer named m.veg has been to this café three times and he/she has enjoyed the overall vibe. Other pros, according to him/her, are nice options, reasonable prices, and finally very friendly staff.
- Another customer named MinervaG likes the gold smoothie and salmon bagel. Also, her water bottle has been refilled free of charge. She also likes the fact that they don’t use any plastic at all.
- Thijmen also likes everything about the café. She, in particular, has enjoyed the beautiful decoration of the café, vegan events, books, and very friendly staff. However, she thinks the foods are a bit expensive but nothing, in particular, has annoyed her there.
- Bethos, another customer, has tried a cheesecake and enjoyed it a lot. She, just like other customers, likes the event space and the lovely people in it.
- Another customer named Kyttiara has created a long list to prove to you why the Plant Base Café is the top-rated! She likes the place, people, and menu items altogether. She also has enjoyed the cream cheese lax, scrambled egg salad, and muffin carrot cakes. She mentions that you can have a wide range of books and material about veganism.
Negative Reviews Of Plant Base Café
Let see whether somebody has negative points to make. For negative reviews, it is better to check Yelp.com because it is more comprehensive.
- Marisa M. thinks that the foods are a bit expensive but enjoys the fact the portions are very big. Also, the food has been a bit too spicy for her. Additionally, she has tried CBD chocolate cupcakes there but didn’t enjoy it that much.
- Another not very impressive review comes from Carla R. she has run across three problems.
- At first, she asked to put some daggone mushrooms in her taco but it took nearly 40 minutes and she had to wait for a long time.
- Also, she was unhappy because the café was going to close 15 minutes earlier which is a bit unprofessional not to let your customers know about it.
- The third problem that she had was the fact that they only gave her one napkin! Just one! not more.
- Finally, she has asked the staff what type of flour they are using and nobody knew that. They only said the flour is gluten-free without mentioning the type. She believes they should know this information because many people have allergies and restrictive diets and cannot eat everything.
- However, she thinks the food has been amazing! It is kind of a mixed reaction.
This is the only not too impressive review from the customers.

They serve many different types of plant-based burgers such as the beyond burger, plus drinks like iced tea and sparkling water, sweets like soft-serve ice cream, and sides like nuggets, fries, and chili cheese fries.
