Veganism started a few decades ago. At first, people decided to stop eating meat because animals used to get killed horrifyingly. However, it was not enough. As a vegan, you should not wear clothes made out of fur, silk, leather, or any other type of animal skin. As you can see, it is a hard lifestyle to follow. There are several types of veganism depending on the food you decide to eat. In the next section, I will explain about different types of veganism.

There are basically five types of veganism. They include:

  • Dietary vegans,
  • Whole-food vegans,
  • Junk food vegans,
  • Raw food vegans, and

As a dietary vegan person, you don’t eat any animal products but continue to use them in other products such as clothing and cosmetics. For example, it will be ok for you to wear a leather jacket or a fur coat. Also, it is fine if you wear cosmetic products that result from being tested on animals such as rabbits and mice.

 

Whole-Food Vegans

You only choose to eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds in this category.

 

Junk Food Vegans

Just like every other type of food, there are many low-quality vegan foods in the market. They included heavily on processed vegan food like vegan meats, fries, frozen dinners, and desserts. In fact, we will talk about this category in the next sections because sometimes vegan junk foods are even less healthy than normal junk foods, such as pizza, hot dogs, etc.

Other good compounds in vegan food are vitamins B1, C, and E, folic acid, magnesium, iron. Also, the amount of cholesterol and saturated fats is minimum.

Also, many diseases can be avoided by eating vegan foods. These diseases include type two diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Ischemic heart disease, hypertension, stroke, and obesity. Also, there is no limit for age, sex, or any other parameters. All people, including children, the elderly, pregnant women, etc., can eat vegan foods without any problems.

Food production is very costly for us now. In fact, we cannot continue living like this anymore. The problem with the current food industry is that we have only a limited number of resources, and they are all dying out very quickly. Let me give you an example. To feed, you have to destroy jungles and forests to clear up land for agricultural products. These products are used to feed these animals.

Also, they drink millions of tons of water every day. You have to provide them with water every day! However, if we keep exploiting lands and water, sooner or later, nothing is left. So, we have to change this to something more cost and natural resources effectively. You don’t have such a problem with vegan foods because you don’t need to consume too much water or use land more than it is ecologically right. You might not be convinced yet.

So, let me tell you how important the vegan lifestyle is. Did you know that half of all the world's crops are produced for animals? It means that we are destroying our planet just because we have to feed the animal and then kill them for their meat. This is so surprising because today, there are nearly 1 billion people in the world who are suffering from undernourishment.

This is another important point about veganism. We have to treat another being as well as possible if we expect others to treat us well. So, what action is better than taking care of animals? Don’t they have the right to live? Don’t they have the right to raise their children and enjoy their company them?

Of course, humans separate them to force mothers to produce milk every day. Animals are being tortured physically and mentally for their products such as eggs, milk, and other dairy products or killed because of their skin or meat. So, when you become a vegan, you are sure that you are not contributing to this cruel industry.

One of the main side effects of vegan foods is that you cannot get enough calories for your daily activities. So, your energy level will go down very quickly.

Also, with vegan foods, you are more likely to lose weight, and if you are a thin person, you will have lots of problems gaining even one or two kilos. The next problem you will face is a leaky gut. It happens because you will use plant-based protein instead of animal-based protein. The problem with this type of protein is that it has large amounts of ant anti-nutrients such as phytates and lectin.

Hormones disruptions are another challenge with the plant-based diet. Soy is one of the sources of plant protein that has phytoestrogens. This compound can alter the hormonal levels of your body in a bad way. Unfortunately, hormonal imbalance is responsible for breakouts on the skin, hair fall, irregular menstrual cycle, skin pigmentation, and others.
