We must be thrilled and hungry, of course.

Veganism Thriving In Australia's Top Travel Spots

Veganism Thriving In Australia's Top Travel Spots

The population of Australia is 98 percent coastal. If you plan your journey throughout Australia in advance, travelling from city to city within the country is easy and can be reasonably priced. Australians are highly amicable individuals who appreciate engaging activities, the great outdoors, and leading healthy lifestyles.

Many establishments are naturally inviting to the vegan diet and are willing to accommodate when possible because of this friendliness and the equal society. It can occasionally be challenging to locate vegan restaurants and stores in Australia.

Below are Australia's top cities and locations, along with some delectable vegan highlights in each:

Adelaide

Some of Australia's best wine and most charming lifestyles may be found in the tranquil hills of Adelaide in South Australia. However, the city is also home to delicious vegan cuisine.

Alice Springs

The major coastal cities are far away from Alice Springs, which is situated in the center of the desert. Numerous notable vegan restaurants may be found in this storied region, which is also home to renowned hiking trails and dry-river boating.

Cairns

Queensland is renowned as the world's leading producer of tropical fruits, and with good reason. Everywhere you turn in Cairns, Far North Queensland, you'll find a tropical fruit farm or grove.

Along with the stores listed below, you might also run into a delicious roadside vendor selling fresh fruit or vegetables while travelling through Cairns.

Canberra

For its 400,000+ citizens, Canberra, the capital of Australia, offers more than 70 vegan-friendly restaurants. However, as there aren't many restaurants that specialize in vegan cuisine, be ready to assemble your meal at many of them.

Brisbane

Brisbane, situated in southeast Queensland's subtropics, provides a wide variety of vegetarian options. For fresh, regional produce and delicacies on the weekends, visit the New Farm, Milton, and West End Markets in Brisbane. Visit the City Markets if you're visiting during the workweek for a noon meal or snack.

Darwin

The Northern Territory of Australia offers a wide variety of delectable vegan options, including one unique food truck powered by plants.

Gold Coast

You can taste the sea salt in the air as soon as you arrive on the Gold Coast and feel the sun on your skin. And this central beach town can meet all of your vegan needs.

Hobart

The capital city of Tasmania, Hobart, is situated on the south coast and is surrounded by scenery of the untamed ocean and rocky mountains. And while it may be challenging to find a restaurant that just serves vegan food, there are plenty of options for plant-based eating in this area.

Melbourne

Melbourne embodies the term “cool.” Outstanding art pieces can be seen across the city, including graffiti on building sides, street musicians honing their craft, and specialty eateries serving beauty on each plate. These are only a handful of the numerous factors to consider.

Perth

There are a ton of vegan-friendly eateries in Perth, many of which have excellent views of the enormous Indian Ocean.

Sydney

Sydney, a world-famous city, is brimming with breathtaking scenery, eye-catching lights, and delectable vegan treats. Sydney's vegan alternatives range from cute neighbourhood juice bars to classy, award-winning vegan Chinese restaurants, making it ideal for big-city living.

It's nice to try these fantastic eateries, but what if you prefer to cook at home?

You may get every component required for a comprehensive vegan meal plan at your neighbourhood Coles or Woolworths. For more choices, if you decide to go the organic route, check out Fundies or Wray Organics.

Vegetarian Australian Eat & Drink

Vegetarian Australian Eat & Drink

Icebergs Dining Room and Bar

The Icebergs Dining Room and Bar offers a vegetarian cuisine with many vegan alternatives. However, it is not a purely vegetarian establishment. Even though the cuisine and drinks are delectable, locals and visitors keep returning because of the breathtaking views of the Bondi Icebergs and the ocean below.

Bodhi Restaurant

Bodhi Restaurant

Bodhi Restaurant is a plant-based foodie's paradise for those who might miss some meat-centric dishes. The cuisine at the 100% vegan restaurant is inventive and features outstanding vegetarian and vegan versions of dishes like fried chicken, Peking duck, and prawns.

Shift Eatery

Shift Eatery

The world would go vegan tomorrow, and there would be no turning back if everyone understood how to prepare this meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You only need to take a quick look at Shift's Instagram to feel your mouth watering over the mouthwatering salad bowls, toasties, soups, and much more.

That doesn't even begin to cover the delectable selection of beverages, which ranges from the well-known Mango Lassi to the wonderfully relaxed and locally brewed kombucha. Book a table at Shift right away because vegans and carnivores have praised it as the best dining experience they've ever had.

Yellow, Sidney

Yellow, Sidney

Searching for a more formal vegetarian restaurant in Sydney? Yellow is the only option. An excellent five-course tasting menu featuring dishes like blini and nasturtium and shio roasted carrot with macadamia nuts is available at the vegan eatery. Additionally, the restaurant provides a selection of wine and non-alcoholic wine pairings.

Gigi’s Pizzeria

Gigi’s Pizzeria

If you were wondering why there are 11 items on the list rather than 10, this is the explanation. We had to include Gigis Pizzeria as Sydney's third outstanding vegan restaurant. Indeed, pizzas don't have to be covered in pools of greasy cheese to be good.

When Gigi's opened in the quirky inner-city area of Newtown in 2008, it became a sensation in Sydney. The buzz is even stronger because the restaurant went fully vegan in 2015 with an ethical and sustainable menu. Vegan cheese options are available, such as the famous funghi e radicchio pizza, which features swiss brown mushrooms, garlic, dairy-free blue cheese, parsley, and walnuts.

Many of the pizzas manage to be utterly excellent without any cheese alternative at all. If you're contemplating going vegan, you don't have to give up those delicious, fatty, Italian evenings out, thanks to Gigi's.

Sweet Bones Bakery And Café

Sweet Bones Bakery And Café

For the ultimate experience for you earth lovers, you must visit Sweet Bones in the capital. We prefer to eat at distinctive cafés that serve several purposes. Everything served here is vegan, and most of the ingredients are acquired locally whenever possible, right in the middle of the oh-so-hip Lonsdale Street.

The pancakes with seasonal fruit, organic maple syrup, and coconut whipped cream or the hefty potato grande with tofu scramble, vegan queso sauce, and chipotle kale are two options from their all-day vegan menu that are sure to satisfy any craving you may have.

After your stomach is full, spend some time browsing the neighbourhood shops. You might find a beautiful eco-friendly moisturizer or treat yourself to a zen clay mask. You'll adore every aspect of this popular store in the city's heart.

Flyover Fritterie

Flyover Fritterie

Flyover Fritterie offers contemporary renditions of traditional Indian foods in snack-sized portions for takeout, describing its cuisine as a “joyful mix of Indian street food and healthy home cooking.” The beautiful eatery is situated away in a peaceful lane where customers can relax and enjoy their meals without being concerned about passing vehicles.

Veggie Bar

Veggie Bar

The city's top vegan restaurant, Vegie Bar, is one of many unique shops and imaginative restaurants on Fitzroy's Brunswick Street. This pioneering, eco-friendly destination has been a favorite of environmentally minded Melbourne residents (including celebrities) for more than 30 years. The most popular meal has to be the mee goreng, which demonstrates that traditional foods can still be flavorful and delicious without using animal products.

What distinguishes Vegie Bar from the many vegan restaurants in Melbourne? The alcohol menu includes traditional cocktails like Coronas and organic, biodynamic wines so you can have your Friday drinks with a guilt-free, sustainable twist. The cuisine is also just divine.

Since it can be nearly impossible to find a seat at times, we advise arriving as soon as possible. But guess what? Takeout can be ordered! It doesn't get much better than five-star meals served to you in the privacy of your house or hostel in your vilest, coziest pyjamas.

Yong Green Food

Yong Green Food

If you want to join the raw food movement but aren't sure where to begin, start at Yong Green Food, located in Fitzroy, a hipster hotspot. The restaurant, owned and run by two vegetarian sisters from the meat-eating nation of South Korea, places a strong emphasis on the skill of “uncooked cooking” while still providing cooked options for those of us who won't touch anything that isn't hot, such pho, udon, and mouthwatering curries.

The restaurant's hallmark dish, “rawsagna,” which features layers of zucchini, mushroom, avocado, cashew cream, and handmade tomato sauce, is a must-try. Even the most adamant meat eaters have praised the cuisine, so visit Fitzroy Toot Sweet and find out what all the buzz is about. After just one visit to Yong Green Food, you'll discover that the raw food movement is about much more than just celery sticks and sad tiny salads.

Grown

Grown

The Hippocrates adage, “Let food be thy medicine,” is the basis for Grown's philosophy. The vegan, environmentally friendly restaurant serves brunch and dinner, and everything on the menu may be categorized as soul food because it only features the best, regionally sourced ingredients.

Although the menus are limited and subject to seasonal fluctuation, popular items like the house-made hash brown and the scrambled tofu with Asian mushrooms and sesame cheese have earned permanent spots.

Both vegans and carnivores adore them. Grown is a great place to escape the Brisbane heat with a full drinks menu that includes everything from fresh juice to the bubbly goodness of kombucha. Nothing beats some raw food and a cool beverage to chill your body down thoroughly.

The Raw Kitchen

The Raw Kitchen

The Raw Kitchen, located in the vibrant borough of Fremantle, is the place to go for an outstanding vegan meal. The raw pad thai, which features zucchini noodles, almond satay sauce, bok choy, Chinese cabbage, and other ingredients, is a significant hit with vegans and meat eaters if it wasn't already clear from the name.

The Raw Kitchen is committed to living mindfully, sustainably, and environmentally friendly; the establishment has a popular events area, a yoga class, and a zero-waste retail store. For those who loved your experience so much you want to make it a permanent part of your life, they also organize raw food classes.

Vegetarian Australia Guide: Things To Do

Royal National Park

Royal National Park

The oldest national park in Australia—and the second-oldest in the world—offers various activities for people of all fitness levels, including bushwalking, bird and whale watching opportunities, and longer and more strenuous hikes.

BridgeClimb Sydney

BridgeClimb Sydney

Using your own two feet, BridgeClimb Sydney gives you a singular opportunity to experience Sydney's sights and noises from above. Visitors to the outdoor adventure can ascend the historic Sydney Harbour Bridge's ladders and stairways to the summit (approximately a three-hour climb total time), where they can take in the harbour's unmatched vistas from nearly 450 feet above sea level.

Vegetarian Australia Guide: Where To Stay

Shangri-La Hotel Sydney

Shangri-La Hotel Sydney

The Shangri-La Hotel Sydney has a lot going for it, including its ideal waterfront location and expansive views of the Sydney Opera House. It is also one of the city's most environmentally friendly hotels. The opulent hotel uses wooden vital cards instead of plastic ones, uses the ORCA clean food waste recycling technology, and specifically makes an effort only to provide paperless check-in and check-out.

MACq 01

MACq 01

No better place to stay in Hobart if you want to treat yourself than MACq 01. Every room in this hotel is named after a different Tasmanian person, including seven current Tasmanians. These characters range from heroes, villains, explorers, inventors, and convicts.

You can even take the 114 Doors tour of the MACq 01 hotel because it is so full of legends. When trying to dine and drink your way through the city, MACq 01's proximity to the city's center—just across Hunter Street—is crucial. Our advice Choose the premium waterfront suite with breathtaking views and plush decor.

Ace Hotel

Ace Hotel

This one is one of the year's most eagerly awaited hotel debuts. The 257-room Ace Hotel is Ace's first residence in the Southern Hemisphere. This enormous venue will have a lobby, lounge, ground-floor restaurant, cafe, bar, and world-class art, culture, music, and culinary program.

A reinterpretation of one of Australia's kiln finds, the Ace Hotel, was created in collaboration with Flack Studio. The Australian Ugliness by architect Robin Boyd and the paintings of Indigenous Australian artist Albert Namatjira served as inspiration for the interior and exterior of the building, which includes elements like an ochre-red marble staircase, burnt orange and tan sunken lounge on the ground floor, and plenty of greenery. A program for artists in residence is also available.

Bannisters

Bannisters

At Bannisters Port Stephens, get away from the bustle of the city. The 78-room hotel is charming and is tucked away on the edge of Salamander Shores. The hotel boasts a trendy seaside feeling with crisp white walls and luxurious furnishings, celebrating the building's 70s overtones.

For us, the cuisine is the center of any holiday, and the food at Bannisters is top-notch. You'll brag to your friends about Rick Stein at Bannisters' vast wine list and freshly caught fish. Pull up a chair at the Terrace Bar and take in the view of the infinity pool for something more relaxed. It doesn't get much better than that: a crisp cocktail in one hand, mouthwatering food in the other.

Miss Midgley's

Miss Midgley's

Bring your attention to Miss Midgley's for a hotel experience unlike any other. You'll discover five cool rooms that have all been thoughtfully built for maximum living potential, encouraging extended visits.

The structure, a renovated schoolhouse, earns the distinction of being among Brisbane's oldest sites. Each room has its own patio area, air conditioning, and a functional kitchen. The bottom two rooms allow pets and a shared pool area with a sun deck.

Conclusion

One of the highest carnivore populations in the world is thought to be Australians. However, the most recent study indicates that many Australians are switching to a vegan or vegetarian diet. About 11% of Australians eat exclusively vegan or vegetarian.
